My neighbor came over and used his yard blower to clean up some grass I'd left on the sidewalk using my string trimmer, to help retain the look. That's how neat the finish is on the lawn. I have owned this edger for nine months and have used it weekly, and it has yet to disappoint me in any way. It is lightweight, quiet, and easy to use and does an excellent job of edging my lawn. I am really pleased with this tool and while I'm not a fan of other Black and Decker yard products (see my other reviews); I would highly recommend this one. I bought this edger for my husband a couple of weeks ago. If your soil is dry, it can get a bit dusty. I'd recommend watering the day before you use this edger. It is easy to handle and powerful enough to penetrate the red clay crust in our yard. I had a little trouble getting precision edge-lines since I was used to a single-wheel model that has been discontinued.
I'm on my first blade (and it still looks fine), even I cut with the deepest cut after the initial shallow cut last year. If I cut when the dirt is damp, I have to clean the blade and wheels off a couple of times during an edging session. I gave this four stars because it works extremely well for edging on a regular basis. It does not, however, work well on heavy overgrowth.
It does a great job for an electric edger. Before purchasing this edger, I did not edge my lawn for 5 years.
Our garden was in high disrepair and so the Hog had to cut through a lot of dense growth, which it handled beautifully. Though I have not had to as yet, maintenance looks as though it will be easy too.
Our grass was pretty thick for the initial job and it handled it without and huge hassles. It was much nicer the second time around. It's more powerful than most, and sturdy as all heck. But it's also pretty light, too. To anyone on the fence about this product, I would add to what the others have said and say "Go for it!" I wasn't too sure about the product reading all the reviews with stories of breaking blades, no guide marker stuff, but decided to give the LE-750 a try.
It's a substantial blade, and in my view well worth the $7 cost. I have neighbors with 2 in 1 trimmers (the kind with nylon rope) that can be oriented 90 degrees to act like an edger. It could have been because the edge attachment only worked well when the trimmer was running at full throttle, which obviously puts a lot of strain on the engine. I debated whether or not to get a gas edger, but most of the edgers I researched were either too expensive, or not CARB compliant (we have strict emission laws here in Cali).
I read reviews on this particular Black and Decker model and it seemed to be the best for the price. After looking at area stores I found this one on Amazon for less money.
