My neighbor came over and used his yard blower to clean up some grass I'd left on the sidewalk using my string trimmer, to help retain the look. That's how neat the finish is on the lawn. I have a rather large corner lot, but I don't consider it to be that big. The Edge Hog seemed to do O.K., but I had to buy a new blade each time I needed to edge the yard. After using this I decided it was time for me to have one. It does a great job edging. It worked as advertised out of the box. Easy to assemble and operate. I can't wait to edge it up again, it was enjoyable. Another note - edge shallow the first time, then go deeper later as you never know what's under your lawn edges.
So in a few minutes my sidewalk and driveway looks pretty good. Of those who do edge, most of them have no clear dirt line.
WOW, we're we impressed. My husband had it set on the 1inch mark and it easily, I mean EASILY cut thru the grass.
This edger is easy to use, has plenty of power and does a nice job. It does clog with mud quickly when the soil is wet, and (probably unavoidably) wears blades fairly quickly. I picked one of these up when I bought my house, and have been pleased ever since. The blades easily last a season (I can usually get them to last a season and a half), and the adjustable height lets you edge nice and deep. Easy to assemble right out of the box. Powerful motor, cuts through dirt and thick grass. I had several areas where the grass had overgrown the walk by 3 to 4 inches. In the thicker areas I had to stop occasionally and move the cuttings out of the way as they were so heavy they were blocking the guide wheels. It does a superb job creating nice, clean lines along my sidewalk and driveway and it also creates a nice 1.5 inch trench along my flower beds. My only complaint is that it's pretty loud (I need to wear ear plugs).
Easy to handle -Cuts like a gem- actually fired the lawn man this make it so easy, yeah for saving money on an easy to use lawn tool. This is my second summer with this edger and I have no major complaints.
I even tried switching to trenching mode and that was even worse. I have given this model 2 seasons worth of second chances and I am done. I smelled more burning plastic then cut grass when using this unit. The motor lasted long enough to show some spectacular sparks.
