If one wanted to define landscaping, the definition would be that landscaping is any activity which changes visible features of a land area. Landscaping can include working with live elements, like fauna or flora. Working with flora is usually known as gardening, basically an art of plant growing which for the aim has to make the environment more attractive. Landscaping also means working with forms of land, shaping of terrain and terrain elevation and working with water bodies. Then we have something called the human element which includes buildings, fences, structures and various objects built and installed by people, and finally there are abstract elements like weather conditions.

It is a very big risk to engage in any landscaping activities without adequate handling and supervision from the professionals. In today's world we hear of failed buildings and structures most of which results in loss of lives and other tragedy; thus structures coming on or in the earth's surface must be properly placed to avoid such issues. In other words; if anyone is engaging in such projects he should ensure the 'right' firms are talked to regardless of what the involvements are.

Some landscaping companies do the whole process alone, which means they design, create and then later on maintain the area you selected. This is a somewhat more expensive solution, but it will save you the time, as you won't have to go and look for many companies which do only a job or two. Keep in mind that finding a company which is cheap may even cost you more, as there are many people who simply aren't professional enough, and there's a chance you won't be satisfied with their service, which just means you'll have to hire someone again.

Professional companies and people offer many landscaping solutions. Some people want a landscape solution for privacy because, honestly, you can't really relax in your gorgeous garden knowing your nosy neighbors can see everything you do, even if it is just having a cup of coffee or reading a book. Having privacy doesn't mean you have to be hidden behind high walls of concrete, no. You can always hire people to plant gorgeous and hedges, trimmed the way you'll like it, giving you a feeling of being protected from the prying eyes, but not making you isolated.

Others want a garden which will be suitable for kids, and this is also possible. Your garden won't have to look like kindergarten, but can be divided into sections. You can have your part for grown-ups, and kinds can have their little patio with slides, sandbox and toys for playing outside. With a little help from an expert you can save hours and hours of drawing, thinking and paper wasting. Some people like gardens in Japanese style, which is also possible, as are French style labyrinths, English lawns, and so on.

Most common things people want in their gardens, if we don't count any extravaganza, is landscape design. They sometimes want their gardens to be designed so there's privacy, but not isolation, some want the design to be accustomed for both kids and adults, some want their yards to e only playing grounds for the children or pets, others want bonsai trees and Japanese style look, some are crazy about English lawns, some want Mexican vivid colors. What ever your taste may be, your designer will first talk to you and listen to you, then they will make a sketch, so you can get a picture of how the garden would look, and once you settle on all important details, they will make a computer design, so you get a really clear picture.
