Drought resistant plants are an important key to successful, beautiful landscapes in Las Vegas. Because Las Vegas is a desert, rain is infrequent. These are plants that require little to no water, or are able to store water for long periods of time. The best kinds of drought resistant plants to plant are ones that are native to the area.

This is a useful technique for storing excess water during rainy seasons. While this technique is useful when it rains, it does not solve the problem during an excessive drought. Another technique, developed by survival experts and adapted for landscaping use, involves the collection of condensation and dew. This is a difficult and tricky process that results in a limited amount of water.

A more practical, more responsible solution is a process known as Xeriscaping. Xeriscapes are popular in dry, desert areas such as Las Vegas, because they use very little water. Xeriscaping is based on a set of 7 principles that are designed to minimize water usage and maintain the landscape, with minimal effort and little cost to the environment. Experts in xeriscaping have designed many beautiful landscapes that capture the natural beauty of the area and require little to no maintenance.

High levels of chemical fertilizers can cause defects and health issues. One way to combat the soil problem, without relying on chemical fertilizers, is to rely on composting and plant rotation. Plant rotation is not as effective with perennials, but is usefully in flower and vegetable gardens. Composting, on the other hand, is a technique that is useful with any kind of landscaping.

They then proceeded to fill these large man made lakes with imported water. Some developers would use this same water to maintain the plants, while others would rely on water transported through the city's network of underground pipes. Professional landscaping increases the aesthetic value of your surroundings and creates an inviting atmosphere.
