When landscaping a yard there are lots and lots of options for you to choose from.

You need to decide if you want to use decorative bark in your flowerbeds or if you are just going to use nice dark topsoil. You also need to decide what sort of walking paths you would like to have around your home.

When you are trying to decide on a type of decorative path you want to have at your home you have several options. You can use pavers and create a stone walkway. You can also have some paving done and get your walkways made out of concrete. An easier way to go though is to use a decorative rock like Cotswald Buff Chippings on your walkway.

Decorative rock comes in all different colors and sizes. Each different color represents a different type of rock mineral. For instance Cotswald Buff Chippings are made primarily of limestone, which is why they have that nice buff color to them. There are also red colored decorative stones that you can buy. You can even buy white stones or stones that are more of the expected gray tones. Each rock type is different. The red stones are lava rock. The white stones are forms of granite or even limestone. The gray rocks are often just river rock.

You need to decide on the size of the rock that will work best for you after you have chosen a color of rock and type of rock to use. The chippings are small chips off of larger rocks, but there are decorative rocks of all sizes to choose from. If you are buying something for a walkway you want to go with a smaller type of rock, not something like lava rock that tends to be bigger pieces. Usually the use of larger rocks like lava rocks, are left for use in place of decorative bark or its used in flowerbeds. If you want to use the white rock that is made of granite or limestone then you should also consider that for an area that isn't your walkway. River rock on the other hand is available in all sorts of sizes.
