Whether you care enough for your concrete swimming pools, they will need a swimming pool repair one in a while. Certainly, the damages may come from the pools' frequent use, adverse weather conditions or improper installation. Hence, to guard them from cracks and chipping, regular observation of their condition must be done.

If you find problems with your pool, don't panic. Assess if it's something that you can mend on your own with the help of proper blends and tools. That can save you from spending money for professional help. Listed below are some do-it-yourself ideas for a quick fix of your pool.

Small Crack Patch-Up

Compared with other pool types, concrete tools are more prone to cracks. Generally, this can be attributed to deficiency in the mixture used during the initial plastering. Small cracks, over time, can grow into deep ones. Thus, there's need for immediate swimming pool repair.

Track the cracks on your pool. Make it deeper by half an inch. Widen it too at both ends. Dust off sand particles in it. Then, cover its entirety with caulk. Caulk will be responsible for getting it water-tight. Caulk application lessens the possibility of water leaking into the crack. Give it time to dry. Finally, provide enough space for plaster application.

The right time to prepare your mixture is the moment your caulk dries up. For the mixture, sand, white Portland cement, bonding agent and some water as materials will be needed. Consistently mix them until it becomes smooth. Pepper the caulked crack with some water. Leaving no space for air and water, completely apply the mixture. Afterwards, check if it is leveled with the pool's surface. Preserve the moist in that area for a few more days.

Repair For Plaster

Shedding pool plasters may not mean a need for pool renovation. What you did with the small cracks can be done with these problem plasters too. Using a hammer and a chisel, remove all the loose plaster. Never mind touching the solid ones. But you can touch those that are about to shed. Afterwards, get the measurement of the entire spot to be plastered.

A mixture is again needed here. For the mixture, you will need one-third of Portland cement and two-thirds of sand. With some water and ample amount of bonding agent, you can get a semi-solid blend for your patch-up task.

Before you start coating the damaged part, splash enough water on it. Apply your mixture using a trowel. Same with the crack blend, apply your mixture thoroughly leaving no space for air to come in. If bubbles appear, it means some spaces were loosely covered and the plaster might shed off easily. Make the edges of the new patches smooth with water. Don't forget to even it out with the surface. Keep the area moistened until the pool is filled with water.

Should you have problems like foundation-breaking cracks and faulty water filtration or plumbing system, have your swimming pool repair done by a professional service provider. Doing these on your own would just create further damage.
