Bamboo has many uses and it looks good as part of any landscape. For that reason many homeowners like to plant it, but don't know how to care for it properly. Keep the following five steps in mind and you should be fine.

There are many types of bamboo out there. They vary in color, pattern, texture, size, etc. It is important to go to a bamboo sourcery and select the right type of bamboo that fits your needs.

There is green bamboo, red bamboo, yellow bamboo, blue bamboo and even a mixture of any of these. The good thing about growing bamboo is that you can mold its shape depending on the props you use as part of the growing process.

The next step is designating adequate space for your bamboo to grow. Bamboo can grow fast and spread wide, including its roots. They need a lot of room so plan accordingly.

Planning is critical because once it starts growing, transplanting bamboo can be a big pain in the neck. It's best to avoid this with careful planning beforehand. Don't forget about the roots. They need space too as they grow and expand. Make sure there is enough space nearby so its leaves don't smash the other plants.

When it comes to watering, be careful because bamboo plants can easily drown if fed too much water. Water it once a day at least and at most. Give it nitrogen rich soil to aid healthy growth.
