Most of us view our mailboxes as the place we get our mail, but it is so much more than that. It is the first thing people see when the visit your house.

Now is the perfect time to replace your old dented rusting mailbox. With all the choices available for purchase you are sure to find a model that will make your home look great.

Cutesy designs for mailboxes were the rage a decade ago; people could get a mailbox in the shape that they wanted even ones that were in the shape of a dog or bird. Go for the classic look it never goes out of style.

If you decide to go a novelty it could be a target for vandals. If you go for a classic like the all American mailbox it will give you years of service without looking dated a may not catch the eye of any vandals.

Of course you will want your new mailbox to be durable and last for as long as possible. If you purchase a completely weather resistant mailbox, your mailbox will look new for years with little to no maintenance required.

You will want to make sure your mailbox and its post are rust resistant. The box should have a weather-safe powder coat finish for extra protection

Remember if you mount your mailbox on a brick or stone pillar you will not be able to take it with you if you move. You can always special order your mailbox with a matching post that is completely portable. In our transient society this is a very cost effective approach.

You can also get ones that have extra functionality if you choose a design that is large so it can hold more mail or perhaps one that has an attached newspaper holder. No more picking up your mail or newspaper off of the driveway or sidewalk. Enhance the look of your home and have you first impression be great!
