The necessity to consider the effects a new architectural project could have on the environment is now with no question. Globally, central authorities are creating legislation that now enshrines into law the theory of viable design. There aren't many necessary elements that a designer wants to take under consideration before any design can be considered sustainable.

Material used inside its construction is a crucial part of the process. Any sustainable design needs to utilize recycled or re-usable material inside its construction. It is also necessary to consider sourcing material hereabouts.

Recycled materials have proven well-liked by young home purchasers as they offer something a little different to the parental home. Residential conversions over retail and office premises are serving to bring folk into the town and restoring neglected commercial areas to life.

What about conveniences that inspire the occupants to live 'green' lives? Most of what the designer has saved during construction can be lost if the residents are not inspired to take on a green way of life. Recycling areas have to be easily accessible and thoughtfully situated. A standard example can be found in the conversion of old industrial grounds, for example warehouses, into convenient loft apartments.

Efficient Water usage : To be considered green or viable consideration should be given to how water is utilized in the project. To preserve water new builds should make full use of available technology to preserve water,eg low-flow toilets, sinks and showers. The collation and redistribution of rainwater is a valuable means of protecting water. Rainwater can be used to flush toilets. It can also be used to irrigate gardens and other landscaping.
