Lots of us love our gardens and enjoy the necessary upkeep to make the garden a space of natural beauty and tranquility. However you may be thinking of giving your garden a makeover and not be so sure where to start. There are many things you can do to change the look of your garden, some are small simple changes and others may require a bit more in terms of financial input but whatever your budget it's easy to give your garden a fresh new look.

A garden awning is a great way to give your garden a whole new look. Awnings are functional in that they will protect the exterior of your home from the elements be that bright sunshine or rain and wind. Garden awning are also a great feature because they look good and if you enjoy entertaining in your garden they add that extra bit of protection and warmth for your comfort. There are many different kinds of awning available from the freestanding canopy types to the remote controlled with built in heating and lighting.

Some people choose an ornament to give their garden a new focus. If your garden has a theme you can choose something in keeping with this, for example many people choose a Buddha statue for an oriental themed garden. If you choose an ornament that is personal to you it will always give you great pleasure when you sit outside and relax in your garden.

Water features remain a popular way to change the look of a garden and these can range from a small landscaped pond to an ornamental fountain. The sound of running water appeals to many, as it is so soothing. Water features may also attract small animals and birds to your garden meaning you can enjoy a spot of wildlife watching.

Repaint your fence or shed if you have one and you will give your garden a whole new lease of life. Many people are getting creative with color and pastel colored sheds and fences really brighten up a small space. Greens and blues look good and could give your garden a more Mediterranean feel.

Decking is a great option if you want to make a big change to your garden. Some people with smaller gardens choose to deck the whole area while those with bigger gardens may choose to keep their space part decked and part lawn. Decking is great if you enjoy holding social gatherings in your garden and looks smart and stylish. What's more you won't have to mow the lawn so much!

Growing your own fruit and vegetables has never been as popular so you could add a vegetable patch to change the look of your garden. Or why not try a few fruit trees? Vegetables grow quickly so you will see the fruits of your labor relatively quickly. Herb gardens are also a good idea and will give you some fresh produce for the kitchen.
