In case you want to have a new path installed in your compound, there is no doubt that pavers are an appropriate choice. This style of installation is appropriate as it gives your house and compounds a brand new and attractive look. In the end, it adds value to your property or home. While fixing pavers, consider having a mixture of the various kinds of materials for your paver installation.

When installing these pavers, an individual just needs to follow the required procedure. This is a simple procedure that does not require the help of an expert. What one needs are the necessary supplies for carrying out the procedure. Some necessary supplies are crushed gravel, stiff broom, a rubber mallet, a shovel, gardening hose and construction grade sand among other supplies. It is good to bring together all these supplies. With these supplies, the fitting in process will be easy and effective.

Once you have the materials in place, the next thing is to get prepared for the main task. This includes preparing a project plan. This is by putting down on paper the ideas you have in form of diagrams. The diagram gives a rough idea of what you plan to construct. One may use a string and yard to outline the area when the pavers will be fixed. It also helps one to get the right measurement needed for this task.

The next thing is to excavate. The step is vital because it ensures that the area is clear. Get rid of all rocks, shrubs and roots in that area that might make it uneven. After getting rid of such things, you need to excavate the soil. That is done using a shovel and the person doing it must dig out well. Doing that gives space to fit in sand, pavers and gravel.

Laying the correct gravel base is the step that follows next. The base should be about two inches thick. However, in areas where the drainage is poor or water logged areas, the grave ought to be made of more inches. This is not the last step though. Addition of sand should be the next step as it is very important.

After completing these steps, the other bit is to pave the selected area. That is done by first selecting one corner then beginning the paving procedure from that corner. Lay the pavers one by one ensuring that they lay flat. If there are any crooked pavers, remove sand beneath them.

Place each of the stone by use of a mallet. By doing so, you can be sure that the stones are securely placed in their position. In case you leave any stone loose, it may end up causing some cracks in future. Therefore, be very cautious.

Finally, you can now apply sealant on the walkway. Sealant is essential as it reduces chances of weeds growing on it. It also makes it more durable. These steps will help you with your paver installation.
