As winter approaches, you might think your pond or lake might not need any treatment. However, in some states, water treatment is necessary throughout the year and in others you need to treat only about half of the year.

Areas in the country with milder winters, such as Arizona, Southern California and most of the southern United States probably need to treat lakes and ponds all 12 months of the year. Even states as far north as Virginia and Tennessee should treat throughout the year.

In other areas, you need only treat from six to eight months of the year, but the treatment months vary by area. If you live in the central U.S., such as Kansas, your treatment months range from March 1 to October 1. If you live in northern states, such as Montana or Minnesota, your eight-month treatment cycle runs from April 1 to November 1.

Bioverse, which distributes safe and natural treatments for lakes and ponds, has a map on its website detailing when each area of the country should treat water and for how long. In addition to this helpful aid, Bioverse also has a Pond Treatment Wizard which will help you solve just about any pond or lake problem.

All Bioverse products are chemical-free and use beneficial bacteria to keep your pond or lake fresh and clean. The products are easy to use, you just toss them in the lake and they start working immediately. Most of the products, such as the AquaSpherePRO will last up to 30 days. At the end of 30 days, simply toss in another sphere. Another similar product, Vista, is perfect for larger lakes and ponds, and equally easy to use.

All of the Bioverse products have been tested by veterinarians and are safe for pets, people and wildlife. In addition to lake and pond products, Bioverse also carries safe, natural products to keep water clean in fish tanks, stock tanks and koi ponds.
