An electric pole saw is basically a 12 inch saw that has been mounted on an extending pole. Extending poles measure between eight to fourteen feet. This cutting tool is light in weight and is very powerful and fast.

The most important part of this device is the chainsaw. This chain moves in a circular manner therefore facilitating cutting. The chain measures approximately 12 inches. The chain will function flawlessly when it is properly lubricated. All moving parts of any machine needs lubrication. Proper lubrication will prevent corrosion. Corrosion and rust are the leading causes of wear and tear of machines.

Maintaining a saw partly involves lubricating it and partly involves servicing and sharpening it. During servicing, worn out parts will be identified. Such parts should be replaced by new parts. Servicing will also identify parts having defects. Such parts should be fixed by a technician.

Sharpening the chain saw is another maintenance exercise. Cutting through very sharp logs needs very sharp saws. The time used on a job will be less when sharpened saws are used. There are professionals who deal with the sharpening activity. Sharpening without professional help is not recommended unless one knows how to do it. Professionals have sharpening tools which a person may not have.

Extending poles come in different measurements. One should choose the measurement that is ideal for his job. The shortest extension measures eight feet while the longest measures fourteen feet. The fourteen feet extension will come in handy when pruning tall trees. When pruning tall trees, the weight of the machine will be a factor to consider. Machines with light weight are the best option.

A machine that is light at ground level will be easy to lift and to sustain upwards. One will be required to sustain a machine upwards for some minutes until a particular branch has successfully been cut. In case the branches being dealt with are hidden, one will need a brightly colored machine. Such a machine will be spotted easily even when it is covered by a number of branches. Cutting branches must be carried out in the safest way possible. If one is not aware of the safety precautions, one should not proceed forward with the job.

A powerful chainsaw and a long extension make up the electric pole saw. For easy cutting, chain needs to be sharpened before the cutting job. There are professionals who are specialized in sharpening cutting tools. The long pole used makes it possible to prune tall trees.
