Three Important Things To Consider When Buying A Petrol Hedge Trimmer

The length of the blades on a particular model of petrol hedge trimmer is an important factor to take into consideration when buying. If you take a little time to think about the type of use your hedge trimmer will be put to, you can avoid ending up with the wrong tool for the job.

There are three main types of things to think about when deciding which type of blade to choose.

The type of blade action. Will you be using your hedge trimmer for extended periods of time? By choosing a model with double action blades, that is blades that move in opposite directions, you will eliminate many of the operator problems such as aching back and shoulders and fatigue when using the machine for prolonged periods of time.

The thickness of the material that you need to cut through. Whilst no hedge trimmer, even the most powerful petrol hedge trimmer, is designed to be used as a chain saw, if you have a lot of twiggy branches to cut, you will need a more powerful model with wider teeth blades. If on the other hand, you keep your hedges regularly trimmed so that they never get time to grow thick, twiggy growth between cuts, you will be able to use a less powerful narrow teeth blades model which will give you a fine finish on your well-manicured hedges.

Consider how much time you are able to spend cutting your hedges and how much cutting you are going to have to do. The longer the blades are, the more that can be trimmed with each sweep of the blades. You should bear in mind though that the machine will be more difficult to use because the longer the blades, the heavier the petrol hedge trimmer will be. A hedge trimmer with really long blades can be very difficult to work with if you have tricky shaping work to do on your hedge.

If you take these three points into consideration, you will end up with the right tool for the work you need to get done in your garden. A good general purpose petrol hedge trimmer will have double action blades with low vibration for operator comfort, a blade length of around 22" and will have either wide or narrow teeth spacing depending on the type of hedges you have in your garden.

It would be very wise to ensure that you have gone through all these details when narrowing down exactly what you are looking for in a petrol hedge trimmer. This will save you from making a mistake and getting the wrong model for the jobs you need to get done.
