If you have the right techniques and necessary tools, you may not need a professional for your tree trimming. Most of these tips are available over the internet and in many plant health related magazines. Normally, you would love to have a beautiful compound, a compound where you can be comfortable relaxing outdoors. This will largely depend on how well the plants around are trimmed.

The reality is that there are quite a number of tree trimming techniques, majority of which requires some levels of specialization and skills. The good news however is that the basics are good enough for you to keep everything in order, that is if you can spare a little of your time.

It all starts from the tools. Among the equipment you may find useful include a pole pruner, pruning knife, a pruning shear (anvil cut or a scissor), hedge shear, gouges, a chain saw and a mallet. Others that may prove important include a ladder and a chisel. Only a few of these may be needed at a time and as such you do not need to have the whole collection. In any case, the important thing is to have them sharpen before any use. In addition to this, they will need to be disinfected particularly if the plant was infected.

When it comes to real pruning work, there are a number of things to consider. Among the factors to put in mind when looking out for the right tree pruning tips include the plant size, its type, height and health. The general rule is to make sure that lateral branches are evenly distributed. In order to achieve this, consider stating by cutting the branches crossing others.

The first thing to consider is if you have the right tools and equipment. When the right selection is done, just few equipment will be necessary. Examples of what you could consider include hand pruning shears like the anvil cut and the scissor action, pole pruner, hedge shear, a chain saw, pruning knife, a mallet, gouges and sometimes a chisel. The tools need to be well taken care of, sharpened before use and disinfection becomes necessary particularly when dealing with infected plants.

When you find yourself having to clear over half of foliage from a branch, then that is a sign that the branch should be cut off. The branches that have a diameter of less than centimeters are the best one to cut off while those exceeding 10 centimeters are best left unless a special circumstance calls for it.

The other important tip is to do pruning in the plant dormant season unless there is an argent need to do it. It is also important to select weaker branches and cut them off, particularly is they meet the main branch with a V-shape angle. The U-shaped branches on the other hands are strong and should be left to thrive.

Before cutting, you must locate where the branch collar is-normally at the branch bottom base. Locate the ridge at the upper surface. You need to make a cut outside the bark o the branch ridge. All this is to avoid injuring the branch collar, which is done by properly aligning the cut away from the branch. With these a few more techniques, tree trimming can be very easy.
