Many people want a nice garden. For a garden full of healthy, vibrant plants, though, there are many factors you need to consider. Gardening can require a large amount of ongoing work, although many find it to be fun, rewarding and even therapeutic. Following are a few tips that can make your gardening time more fun and less work.

While most plants suffer in the cold, some annual flowers actually do better. To make sure that these plants always look their best, prune them if they start to look too leggy. Following the pruning, it generally takes only a couple weeks before blooming occurs again, which creates a lovely image compared to the traditional foliage of the winter months. For those colder month, you may want to try snapdragons, various petunia plants, or even the sturdy dianthus.

Be sure to plant using the colors of Fall. That doesn't have to be it though. When it comes to vivid foliage, autumn offers the best opportunity to view it. Maple, Beech and Dogwood trees are available in a number of fall colors, varying from bright yellow to rich crimson. Some vibrant shrubs include hydrangea, barberry, and cotoneaster.

There are many houseplants that need to be re-potted, but some prefer to stay in their existing pot. An easy way to test which plants require re-potting is to flip them over and tap on the pot until the moment the plant falls out with ease. If you see a tangle of roots, the plant must be replaced. If only a little amount of roots or no roots are showing, then the plant is doing really well in the original pot.

Don't use broad-spectrum pesticides in the garden. Besides killing the insects you don't want, this type of pesticide will also kill beneficial insects. Many times good bugs will be more sensitive to harmful pesticides than the ones you are trying to get rid of. If your good bug population goes down, your problem will only get worse. This can cause you to use an additional amount of pesticides in order to attempt to fix this problem.

Keep your gardening tools put away if you have a lot of traffic in the yard or on your street. Don't leave anything valuable around since you can never tell if someone may want to use or steal it.

To get the best results in your garden, you need to use a good quality soil. Depending on the type of plants you desire in your garden, your natural soil may or may not be appropriate. It is also possible to make an artificial area using only one type of soil.

To prevent your plants' systems from becoming shocked, you need to gradually transition them from higher to lower temperatures. The first day you transfer your plants, you should only allow them to sit in direct sunlight for a few hours. Over a period of several days, slowly increase the time they are allowed to stay outside. At week's end, the plants should be welcoming of their new home.

Plants need CO2 grow well. Typically, the higher the levels of carbon dioxide present in a plant's environment, the better it will grow. A great way to reach these CO2 levels is through a greenhouse. Make sure to keep CO2 levels high to provide the best growing environment for your plants.

Use these tips to create the ideal garden. When your plants bloom and come alive you will feel tremendous joy and satisfaction. Gardening may change your life if you let it, now get started.
