The music of outdoor chimes softly playing their tune is charming to hear. They not only add sound to the environment and calm nerves with the melodies they play, they are also pretty to look upon.

These items are available in almost any style imaginable. Some styles are just pure fun. Whimsical objects, such as brightly colored monkeys, frogs, or chickens bring a smile to those who happen upon them, and perhaps even bring on a giggle of delight. It's often fun when they are designed around a theme such as a teapot, below which is suspended a variety of different flowers, or a teddy bear, below which hangs an assortment of children's toys.

Other types are created in vintage styles, and perhaps even crafted from real vintage materials. These vintage styles tend to also evoke a sense of days gone by when viewing them. Those made from old silverware, door locks, or large skeleton keys are great examples. Colorful recycled glass also creates a spectacular piece, not only producing gentle melodies, but beautiful to look at.

If a more modern style is preferred, many are created in this style, and also serve as bits of art. Styles for contemporary tastes are created from an array of materials. Polished metal, crystal, wood, and glass are often used. These materials can be found in a mixture used in the creation of a single set, creating a stunning piece.

When envisioning wind chimes, the style of a large top piece that is suspended with the chimes swinging below is the most familiar image that comes to mind for most people. But, there are also flat-bottomed stands in each chime is suspended. These look and sound great sitting on a table on the porch, next to the pool, or nestled amongst the flowers in a garden.

It's also a great decorating tip to bring them indoors. When hung next to the kitchen window, or sitting on a side table in the living room, they play their sweet music each time a breeze flows gently through the window.

Wind Chimes can make a fun and decorative addition to any room's decor. Don't worry if no window is available in the room of choice. Placed in the right spot, each time the heat or air conditioning flows through the vents, there is an instant breeze to inspire the chimes to sing their melody.
