An accessible and rewarding hobby that can be enjoyed in your garden or home regardless of what space you have available is growing bonsai. Most of the items are already available at your local hardware store which means that you don't need a lot of expensive equipment.

Trees and plants which are pruned and trimmed to keep them small are bonsai. Many bonsai live longer than their full grown counterparts and contrary to what you might think, the trees thrive on the constant attention. Even though bonsai can be grown indoors in pots or outdoors, you need to make sure that the species you chose can cope with your climate if you want to keep your bonsai outdoors.

You may need to go and buy a specialist equipment namely a Bonsai pot, a pair of chopsticks, and of course the plant or tree that you intend to turn into your Bonsai masterpiece. You will need a small pair of sharp scissors as well as a larger pair. To shape your branches and fine wire cutters, you will need wire. With a small set of garden shears and a large set of garden shears, your Bonsai tool set is complete.

As you get more involved and interested, you may find that you would want to consider purchasing Bonsai tools that are slightly more specialist such as miniature Bonsai rakes and root combs. Since the price would usually match the tool size, most are actually very affordable so there's no need for you to worry. Helping you to create a lovely Bonsai that will be admired by many is a good book with illustrations.

No matter where you live, there is a good chance that you aren't too far away from a Bonsai shop because Bonsai is becoming increasingly popular around the world. Many garden centres and nurseries now also stock the tools you need and you will find the internet is full of suppliers of everything you could possibly need, from compost to rakes and even plants.

Essential tools and specific Bonsai equipment and compost is what you may need in order to grow a Bonsai tree but besides these, you can also buy ornate pots, decorative figurines, and other ornamental additions if you want to turn your Bonsai into a work of art. Patience, perseverance, and commitment is what you will also need because it is a time consuming task to train a Bonsai and it requires daily attention and dedication. This hobby, besides being extremely rewarding, will provide a beautiful and long-lasting result and it's also a great way to relieve stress.
