Crazy survivalists have long been ridiculed for their warnings of economic collapses and admonitions to become more self sufficient. It seems that they were just a little early, and that what they feared is now upon us. This appears to be the time to prepare for your future by purchasing some heirloom seeds for sale and learning how to cultivate your own food while you still can.

Of course there are authorities advising that all is well, the economy is mending, and catastrophes do not happen in our country. Reasonable people looking at the evidence will think otherwise. Our problems can not be kicked down the road indefinitely. Necessary changes that we do not make, will eventually be forced upon us. Even the manipulated economic statistics produced by the government tell a dire story.

The world's population is at an all time high and steadily growing. Besides economic depression, looming sovereign debt crisis, and inflationary printing of fiat money we are seeing food shortages developing. Weather conditions like flooding and drought, food safety concerns with microbial and pesticide contamination, and genetic modification and seed sterilization will all act to create pressures on the available supply of nutritious and safe food.

Historically we see that government has never been able to save the citizens in times of real crisis. It usually causes matters to worsen. Only individuals acting in their own interests by taking control of their own destiny in a timely manner will preserve themselves.

One important measure to take is becoming self sufficient in the ability to produce one's own healthy, nutritious food efficiently. One informal study found that a family could produce their own food for just 61 cents a pound, while restaurant food cost 10 to 20 times as much.

When eating at restaurants it is hard to know whether the food you are eating is healthy, or how it was prepared. The raw materials could be pesticide and herbicide laden, genetically modified, unsanitary, and low nutrient. It could be cooked in aluminum cookware and microwave ovens. Obesity causing additives may be included as preservatives, or to prevent the eater from feeling full.

With a purchase of heirloom seeds for sale you may not only provide for your own family but help others by not unnecessarily burdening the already inadequate commercial reserves. You can produce much of your own food in small back yard or rooftop gardens. Start learning and practicing now. Supplies are limited and costs are rising.
