The two main reasons why tree trimming is done are for protection of physical property and also to make it possible for new trees to grow. When trees are trimmed or cut incorrectly, there will be susceptibility to tree wounds as well as diseases that may be destructive to the trees. When on the other hand it is done appropriately, repeat trimmings will be avoided. This will ensure there is saving of money and having trees that are aesthetically pleasing. Tree trimming service is very important and there are many techniques used.

One of the techniques used is the natural method. It is mostly preferred in the event that one seeks to keep away potential diseases, plus it ensures there is no damage to the plants. Electrical crews use the technique to trim trees that may be growing close to power lines. For people that have homes, they use the technique to promote growth and remove plants that could be too close to structures.

The most important consideration with this technique is to cut small limbs growing adjacent to parent limbs, or those that may be bigger. The main tools utilized are trimmers and hacksaws because it is not large branches that are removed but shoots. The method is used whenever there are obtrusive growths on trees.

Many are the times when homeowners use tree topping method for big trees, which should not be the case. This technique is mainly used to cut off top branches in order to thin appearance of trees. Whereas many people are of the notion that the method promotes larger bloom, this is not the case. There also is the option of cutting top branches in a horizontal way, across. It is the best suited method for trees found close to utility lines.

The main reason why most people do not use this technique as much is due to the fact that is could lead to damage of trees. There is the possibility that there will be open wounds and thus such trees will be susceptible to various diseases. The other shortcoming of this method is new growth. There is sprouting of new shoots straight from the plant, and this happens very rapidly. These new shoots will force homeowners to repeat the technique after every few years.

When trees are trimmed for the sole purpose of enabling new growths, the procedure is known as pruning. Specific technique used depends on the form of new growth being promoted. For example, some farmers trim trees so that fruit production is enhanced. Bonsai trees get trimmed so that they attain the required shapes. Thus the choice of method is informed by the growths in question.

The general rule to follow is not to exceed 25 percent of limbs of trees when pruning is being done. When the same technique as natural trimming is followed, it will ensure there are new healthy new growths and also minimization of diseases. Pruning happens at specific times during the year. This will depend on type of trees.

Experts suggest that one ought not to remove more than a fourth of the tree volume in a single year. In the case of trees which shed their leaves, pruning should even be more restricted. Trimming of trees is a service needed by most if not all homeowners.

Thanks for the tips on tree trimming. We have some trees around our property that need to be taken care of. I was wondering how aggressive I could be about trimming. Glad to know that as long as I don't trim more than 25% away, I will be okay.
