You cannot wait for autumn to photograph the tree though trees look attractive in autumn.

Equipments of photography

What kind of lenses do you want to use? It depends upon totally up to you. The lenses vary from wide angle to shorter telephotos. You are free to use compact camera also. As in dark forest light is unsatisfactory, you should take a tripod must. It is important to take all essential materials with you when you are going for a long day tour. You can use a bag with huge space and many pockets that will ensure your essential things with you.

Target the woods

You can get trees easily near by us like our garden, beside the roads etc. The tree beside your house cannot be a good object at all. You must go outside for better snaps. Before dragging your tripod please check is the garden or forest is suitable for using tripod or not. For working on a group of trees it is convenient to take the overall scene where as you can crop the image when you need an ulterior look.

Select a suitable time

You should take photographs after or before sometime of midday not just the midday or in full sun because contrasting light may create problem. A gloomy day is never suitable for photography. But there has an exception for some close up photography.

Include textures and patterns

You should get closer when you are going for a single tree. Go to the trunk and cover some texture in your photo range.

Including artificial things

You can take some man made object that goes with the soft nature in your photo. It is better to consider benches, statues in this case.

Work on leaves

It is better to give attention to leaves and canopy area in a clear sky. You can go for fine points in veins as green contrast excellent versus blue. Be conscious to avoid bug chewed leaves. If you need more detailed snaps, I suggest you to take coupling rings or an extension tube on double lenses but in case of closer photography use a 100 mm lens.

If you want a shiny and distinct work, please avoid the thicker leaves and same patterned leaves.
