Between changing out the water heater and cleaning the carpets, it appears that work is never ever done when you own a house. Now please understand that I would not have it any other way. Including sleeping, many of us are in our house for some 12 plus hours every day. Some of us really work out of our residence also so you can include even more hours on to that. From time to time we take things upon ourselves to be proactive and change out the dishwasher but at other times we wind up being reactive. Like the time when a strong wind broke a huge tree limb and it caused considerable damage when this limb landed on our roof.

This year I am attempting to remain on top of things by going the proactive path. Now to understand the next statement, understand that my spouse and I stay in a house that is around 55 years old. I have actually walked around our house and noted that I would like to work on the washroom upstairs because we still have the old blue toilet, blue tub, a 30 year old vanity, and disgusting old tile.

The outside of my house is much better but there are a couple of things that require have to be looked after. Some dangling cable wires looks unsightly and then there is the yard. Maybe 8 years ago our yard was destroyed when a pipe burst outside. We have a lot of bare spots and it appears that no matter what type of lawn seed or fertilizer that I put down, lawn does not grow very well. This is most likely due to the fact that our trees are also over 50 years old and there is too much shade for grass to grow.

However I have resolved that this would be the year that I would do something about my grass. Between the crabgrass, grubs, ants that construct their hills, bare patches, brown patches and other weeds, I have actually got to do something to make my grass look nice. I have to face facts, my grass is an embarrassment. So I was speaking to a colleague who invests a whole lot of time gardening and he said that he actually likes an item called Quicklawn. Now I know absolutely nothing about Quicklawn except for the couple of things that I've read on its website but if everything said is true about the claims, Quicklawn would appear to be able to fix many of my lawns problems.

Now although I'm skeptical about most products that offer wild claims, I am informed that Quicklawn can help get rid of crabgrass and other weeds, bugs, brown patches and will grow in the shade. The cost of a bag of Quicklawn is a fraction of the cost of a few of the well known seed and seed fertilizer mixes and they offer a cash refund too if you are not pleased.

My work friend informs me that his yard is green throughout the year and he has the very best looking lawn in his community. Seeing as we are in the winter months in the Chicagoland area, I will be waiting til the spring to make use of Quicklawn. Will do a followup come summer.
