Looking At Gardening From A Different Point Of View

Is gardening or working in the yard all about toiling away and not full of joy for you? Would you rather be doing something else and simply pay for someone to take care of your lawn and garden? If this sounds like you then you very well might be missing out on a part of your life that could bring you great joy and satisfaction. Before we're done here, you might actually want to think about reclaiming some of those chores that you pay someone to do for you.

You, as a human being, have many desires and needs that you need in order to live a fulfilled life. You might not know it but there is probably a part of you deep down inside that is missing and actually needs to do a little gardening every once in a while. Getting in touch with nature and getting your hands a little dirty might actually be very good for you and your stress level. After all, we humans have been tending to the soil for many generations and there is a part of us that needs to feel grounded to the earth every once in a while.

Of course, we're all busy these days. We all work too much and the nature of our society these days tears us away from what we are programmed to do. We work in offices; spend hours and hours a week in a car commuting to and from work. If we have children, we're shuttling them to soccer practice or ballet lessons. So, to have someone do the brunt of the yard work sometimes makes sense. While yard work can be a chore, feeling as if you are forced to do it makes that time spent outdoors less enjoyable rather than more enjoyable.

I encourage you to put aside that notion that working in your yard is some sort of a huge chore. Sure, if you have a huge yard, continue to let someone cut the grass and do the trimming but get outside for a change and do some gardening. It doesn't have to be some monstrous project. Working on one little flowerbed and making it how you want it is a good start. Make it in a spot that you will see every day so you can enjoy it and check on the progress and admire your handiwork.

Each of us has the desire to nurture and care for something. For some of us this causes us to have children and have relationships. This need also transcends to gardening and the ability to create and nurture a small plot of land with our hands as we watch things grow and blossom can fill this need. Even if you have children, the satisfaction that comes from growing and tending to other living things is a basic need that gardening and landscaping can give you and very easily.
