Land aeration refers to any attempt made with an intention of reducing soil compaction. This practice is necessary so as to improve root function, promote root growth and enhance flourishing of planted flowers, grass or any other related plant. A less impacted soil allows for free movement of moisture and nutrients and consequently growth of plants. Lawn aeration is therefore a very important undertaking.

There are a number of ways to achieve aeration and the right choice to implement depends on soil type and extent of surface area to be covered. Such options range from simple tools to complex mechanized interventions. The first way is by use of simple fork which is driven into the soil and wiggled to widen resultant holes in the lawn before proceeding to do the same elsewhere till all surface is completed.

A second way may involve use of hollow tines. They equally create holes in lawn spaces through scooping soil rather than piercing and scooping as is the case when a fork is used. A third option involves use of scarifies so as to improve air circulation in a lawn. It aids the removal of excessive cover. A fourth way involve a simple use of spiked foot wear. As one walks in the lawn, these spikes create holes thereby improving aeration on the pierced surfaces.

Slitter is yet another effective way of aerating garden and or grass fields. In this particular method, a system of sharp and tough edged metals is aligned so as to enable large coverage and quick completion of the task. Actually, it is the best way to go about large green fields as it provides the most reliable and efficient accomplishment.

Timing is one necessary component of any kind of activity. Wrong timing may therefore make an undertaking less successful or even completely misfired. This is therefore best carried out during times when soil is moist and is neither very wet nor too dry. This way, crops benefit most from the effort exerted. On the other hand, working in very wet lands may lead to much loss of effort without achieving desired aim.

Making decisions to carry out these activities may be a challenging one but there are a few guidelines to direct individuals. One may wait till grass or plant appears changed but this may not be the best way out. By digging out a small square piece of land from the garden, one may be able to determine a need for aeration. Grass roots extending less than five centimeters into the soil demands for interventions to improve drainage.

Besides these kinds of activities, it may also be necessary to engage in several other activities which are together with application of fertilizer and or organic materials to enrich soil and improve performance of plants. Watering equipment should be left in good shape after such a process is complete among many more activities.

In summary therefore, it is necessary that every person protects and maintains aesthetic values of environment. This activity is simple, cost effective and rewarding. After all, it is not an everyday activity but the benefits last longer and can be experienced on daily basis.
