The Upside of In ground Fiberglass Pools

The construction of a home pool can use one of several different materials. In ground fiberglass pools are made of a hard, molded material instead of flexible vinyl lining or hard concrete. There are multiple advantages to them, compared to the other choices.

The installation of a vinyl or concrete pool can take weeks, or even months. During this time, you will have construction equipment and workers going in and out of your yard, and working on an ugly hole in the ground. The warranty on concrete pools may be as little as half the time of those on fiberglass ones, and vinyl even more limited.

Lower maintenance needs also make this type of pool stand out from the rest. It has a limited need for washing and cleaning, and doesn't need to be drained at any point. It can tolerate winter temperatures, and allow the water to freeze without damage. There are no specialty washes required to keep it clean, and the gel coating on the material repels algae and bacteria.

The fiberglass pool prices that you see in a catalog or are quoted for an installation represent more of the total cost of the final product. This is because they don't need so much cleaning and therefore cleaners, and other materials. Professional maintenance, if needed, is limited compared to the other options. Home maintenance needs are lower, and thus do not cut into your time so much.

People who buy fiberglass pool kits don't get any nasty surprises, either. The pools are made from professional molds and all come out exactly the same. Unlike a concrete or vinyl pool where the appearance of the final result depends at least partially on the skill of the installer, these inserts will create the same perfect product each time.

There are other benefits to these pools, as well. Many people are starting to jump on the salt water craze, and this type of pool tolerates salt water without issue. Other types can wind up eroded and voiding the warranty if salt water is used to fill them. You also get the satisfaction of choosing the perfect option in a catalog, complete with desired depth and seating options, and getting exactly that.

In ground fiberglass pools are a great alternative to the more common concrete types. They are sturdy and will hold up well for years, and most come with a warranty that reflects this. They provide a smooth surface without the abrasive nature of concrete or the slipperiness of vinyl. Limited maintenance means limited costs, and fast installation means you could have your pool functioning in a day or less.
